Fans dubbed this self-written, directed and produced play "The Wizard of Oz Goes
to China". Although it was the first time to step on a stage for most of the sixty-six member cast
of children and adults, it was expertly presented to a sold-out audience who couldn’t stop clapping.
The goal was to offer a professional experience coupled with the Heroes trademark for all our
presentations, while also providing a constructive moral message. Journey To Shaolin took an entertaining
and engaging look at the importance of hard work, devotion and patience.
Thanks to the generous support of Miami Dade Cultural Affairs we were able to present this at the
Byron Carlyle theater in full traditional costumes.

The story follows four youths as they challenge themselves to gain self-mastery; learning life lessons
from traditional folk heroes, animals, nature and the art of Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Chi Gung.

A successful collaboration of teachers and students, the production utilized; planning and painting
backdrops, costumes, recording voiceovers, drama, music research, understanding cues, martial arts
choreography, Lion Dancing and drumming, and stage management.

and video clips to get the full story about this wonderful journey into the world of public theater
and stagecraft. (DVD’s are available.)
