 LUIS GARCIA-NEREY
partnered with Heroes to create environmental art for our Giving Back Green program,
producing sculptures for N. Miami’s first organic community garden.
"In recent pieces I have been commenting on the abundance of discarded materials and how one can transform something
left to waste into something valuable and meaningful. I create environmentally based art that honors the communities in which
it is found. I’ve pursued a disciplined aesthetic, academic and community course of study to build an artistic practice that
integrates art, nature and community in meaningful ways. My research on the relationship of plants and humans, landscape
design, and environmental theory undergirds my understanding of the critical intersection between the natural environment
and the public realm."
